Summer School
Hillside’s summer school offers core academic classes rather than Advanced Placement or other specialty classes. We provide a pathway for students who wish to open a place on their school-year schedule in order to take a specialty class, or pursue other school activities that complement their academic efforts.
A Hillside summer school course is one year of academic learning presented over a six-week session. Students are generally best served by taking classes where they are relatively strong academically. Because of the intensive nature of the course, students must expect to spend considerable out-of-class time doing homework in order to succeed. For the same reason, families must not schedule any overlapping vacation or other commitments that would cause even brief absences.
Classes are small (12 to a class except for some of the night summer school classes) and interactive. There is close and constant communication between teachers, students, and parents.
Admission to summer school is by application, and on a first-come, first-served basis.
